Bonz Beach Farms Now Accepts Senior Project Fresh Michigan Vouchers

Bonz Beach Farms is proud to announce that we now accept Senior Project Fresh Michigan vouchers at our on-site farm market and the Rogers City Farmers Market. In addition, these vouchers can be redeemed at the farmers markets in Lewiston, Atlanta, and Hillman. This partnership means that eligible older adults can use their benefits to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and even local honey straight from our farm and neighboring vendors.

What Is the Senior Project Fresh Michigan Program?

The Senior Project Fresh Michigan program is a federally funded initiative designed to help older adults with limited income access fresh, locally grown foods while supporting Michigan farmers. The program provides participants with $25 in benefits, issued as five $5 coupons. These coupons can be exchanged for fresh fruits, vegetables, and honey at participating farmers markets and roadside stands across the state.

The program runs from May 1 to October 31 each year. Benefits must be obtained in the county where the applicant lives, and they cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. Participants are strongly encouraged to use their coupons promptly and carefully.

How to Apply for Senior Project Fresh Michigan

In past years, the program used paper applications and paper coupons. Starting in 2025 and continuing into 2026, Senior Project Fresh Michigan is transitioning to a digital electronic system. Applications are now submitted through the Healthy Together mobile app or web application. Once approved, benefits are loaded electronically, making it easier to use at participating locations.

To apply, visit the Healthy Together platform or contact your county’s lead agency. Most counties have local offices that can help with the application process. Remember, you must apply in the county where you live. Keep checking the official Michigan.gov Senior Project Fresh page for the most current information on application opening dates and any updates to the digital transition.

Tips for Using Your Senior Project Fresh Benefits

To get the most out of your Senior Project Fresh Michigan vouchers, keep these tips in mind:

  • No change is given when you use your vouchers. If your purchase totals less than $5, you lose the remaining value, so it is best to buy items that meet or exceed the coupon amount.

  • You can supplement with cash if your purchase is more than the voucher’s value. For example, if you have a $5 coupon and buy $7 worth of produce, you can pay the $2 difference with cash.

  • Keep your coupons or digital benefits safe. They cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.

  • Use your benefits during the program season, which runs from May 1 to October 31. Benefits do not carry over past the end of the season.

  • Remember that benefits are tied to your county of residence. You must apply and use your vouchers in that county.
