Mayan Coffee: From the Mountains of Guatemala to Onaway, Michigan
This coffee begins in the tropical mountain forests of Guatemala, where rich volcanic soil, abundant rain, and elevations ranging from approximately 1,300 to more than 2,000 meters create remarkable conditions for growing high-quality coffee.
But its journey to Northern Michigan is deeply personal.
Our friends Ivan and Daniela moved to Onaway to open a business and build a new life in our community. Through Mayan Coffee, they brought a piece of Daniela’s family and homeland with them: authentic Guatemalan coffee produced and roasted in the country where her family lives.
Guatemala contains eight distinct coffee-growing regions, each shaped by its own elevation, rainfall, soil, and microclimate. These beans come from some of the country’s most celebrated coffee-producing areas, including Cobán, Antigua, and Huehuetenango.
The result is coffee with genuine character—a reflection of the mountain environments in which it was grown and the family story that carried it all the way to Onaway.

A bright, lively coffee with tasting notes of cacao, berries, and raw cane sugar. This roast preserves more of the beans’ naturally vibrant qualities and is ideal for those who enjoy a lighter, more expressive cup.
ULEW Medium Roast
A smooth, balanced coffee with notes of citrus fruit, vanilla, and caramel. Its approachable combination of brightness and richness makes it an excellent everyday roast.
K’AK’ Dark Roast
