Employee Spotlight: Thank You, Laurie Skuse Romanow

At Bonz Beach Farms, we are blessed to have many wonderful people who help move this farm forward every single day. From family members to friends to team members who jump in wherever needed, this place simply would not be what it is without them.

Today, however, we want to shine the spotlight on one very special person: Laurie Lynn Skuse Romanow.

By the grace of God, Laurie joined us in mid-February, arriving at exactly the right time—just before we were about to dive headfirst into our first real maple season. Looking back, we honestly aren't sure how we would have made it through without her.

Laurie has become an essential part of our operation, handling countless tasks with care, precision, and a level of pride that is increasingly rare to find.

To date, she has personally inspected, cleaned, and packed more than 17,000 pieces of maple candy. Every piece that leaves our farm has benefited from her attention to detail.

But that's only part of the story.

She's also helped package:

  • More than 250 bags of maple granola

  • Over 360 pounds of maple sugar

  • More than 120 bags of pancake mix

And somehow she manages to do it all while keeping things organized, spotless, and running smoothly.

One of the things we appreciate most about Laurie is that she brings more than just hard work to the table. As a lifelong local, she has taught us countless things that only someone from the area would know.

Need to know where Fingerboard Corner is? Laurie knows.

Wondering who's who in the community? Laurie knows.

Trying to stay informed on local happenings? Laurie definitely knows.

In fact, during the infamous Cheboygan Lock & Dam situation of 2026, Laurie became our unofficial news correspondent, keeping all of us updated from her front porch. At one point she was even interviewed by FOX 2 while simultaneously helping pack maple candy—which perfectly sums up Laurie: always helping, always involved, and always connected to the community.

What truly sets Laurie apart, though, is the care she puts into everything she touches.

She treats Bonz Beach Farms as if it were her own. She notices the little things. She keeps everything clean and organized. She takes pride in her work. Most importantly, she genuinely cares about the success of the farm and the people around her.

Laurie, you are an absolute delight to have around. Your hard work, dedication, kindness, and local wisdom have made a tremendous impact here.

We thank God often for bringing you into our lives and into the Bonz Beach Farms family.

From all of us: Thank you, Laurie. We appreciate you more than words can express.
